The 25th Annual Keney Park Family Day Festival
“A Family That Heals Together Stays Together”
Our Mission: Family Day Enterprises, Inc. is a community based organization designed to instill pride and increase community involvement of families through positive recreational, educational and economic experiences.
Family Day acknowledges and re-energizes the spirit of community in Greater Hartford through the celebration of the family unit. Participants range from retail vendors, entertainers, performers, athletes, nurses, doctors, historians, police officers, and community organizers. The Annual Family Day Festival in Keney Park serves as an important reminder of the economic, cultural, and social potential of Hartford’s neighborhoods.

The Festival also celebrates the precious legacy that Henry Keney entrusted to the City of Hartford and its residents. Keney Park is a jewel in the crown of Hartford’s magnificent parks system. Hundreds of dedicated volunteers spend thousands of hours to ensure Family Day is a success each year. Family Day attracts increasingly positive recognition throughout the community and region. It has grown to generate enthusiastic reviews in print and electronic media. Family Day in Keney Park offers a positive counterpoint to the negative news and views so often and inaccurately associated with our beautiful city. This year’s focus is to promote healthy and active lifestyles.
“A Family that Heals Together, Stays Together” is the theme for the 25th Annual Family Day Festival. This year’s festival will place a strong emphasis on promoting strong and energetic lifestyles. We will be launching our first annual “Family Zumba Walk”. The festival will also be hosting a small nutrition fair and a green living fair. Health related issues affect all social, cultural, and economic groups in the Greater Hartford Community and by increasing the health consciousness of the people the Capital City’s vitality will be positively impacted. |
This year we are expecting 2500-3000 attendees at the festival. Hartford residents will experience a culturally rich experience (music, food, art, dance), while having access to multiple recreational activities. Entertainment, Health and Human Services, Arts and Crafts Vendors, Food Vendors, Education and Employment Opportunities, Nutrition Education and Green Living Information will also be a part of the festival.
Our organization, Family Day Enterprises, Inc. seeks to play an instrumental role in organizing and facilitating various events and activities promoting healthy and active lifestyles for Hartford families. We aim to use Keney Park and other city recreational facilities to hold such events. We would like to provide families with access and opportunities to experience and live fit and vigorous lifestyles. Our goal is to partner with local businesses, educational institutions and churches to connect the community with a plethora of resources that will foster a healing milieu throughout the city of Hartford. We would like to create an advocacy and outreach program to further enable healthy and active families. The program will use associated resources to provide the community and its residents with information and support to combat the factors that currently have a negative impact on the family unit.
We as an organization intend to use art, music and culture to heal and rejuvenate Hartford families. Planned events and activities will use cultural experiences to entertain, educate and enlighten families throughout Hartford and surrounding towns. Additionally, we would like to use our events to promote green living in the city of Hartford. All of these events and activities will provide Hartford families with the information, resources and tools to reduce the negative impact on our environment. Through the creation of the aforementioned programs, events and activities Family Day Enterprises, Inc. aims to promote healthy, active and green lifestyles.
